Congratulations to James who turned 1 on Saturday we hope you had a fab time celebrating.
The Tiny Tigers have enjoyed challenging themselves this week with numbers and shape, space and measure. We took turns and shared as we all took the time to fit shapes into the spaces.
We then used different shapes to create prints on paper listening to the practitioners count and repeat shape names.
Robbie showed good problem-solving skills when he struggled to fit the shape into the space, he lifted the lid and placed the shape back in the box.
This week in Toddling Turtles we have had lots and lots of fun exploring the snow!…. We have made our own snow balls and a little snowman and have explored the garden leaving our foot prints in the snow.
We have also began to make Chinese flags using our fine motor skills, ready for the Chinese New Year (keep a look out for our new display). Our children have also enjoyed getting Messy in the flour and have also had lots of fun splashing in the water and pretending to bath the baby and using lots of communication.
Tilly, Tom and Tiny have joined in in our day to day activities, this week and the children have loved having them.
We have enjoyed playing in shredded carrots in the malleable play, making carrot cakes and carrot mountains. We have also explored different malleable textures, including; custard, tapioca, beans and spaghetti hoops. On Wednesday, we made our own snow pictures and went outside to explore in the snow. All the children enjoyed themselves, even Tilly, Tom and Tiny had a play in it!
This week we have been so excited to see and play in the snow! We had snowball fights and attempted to build a snowman. We improvised and made our own sleigh from things out of our workshop area, we were very creative.
Carrying on with the snow theme, for our focused activity we made snow scenes out of clay and cotton wool This covered most of our learning outcomes but especially communication & language and expressive arts and design.
We worked on our balancing on the trampoline with the sports man and mastered our gross motor skills with a bat and emoji ball.
Emma has helped us to make turtles to decorate our sand area, which is continually being enhanced. All of the areas are being enhanced at the moment, giving lots more opportunity to challenge the children¹s thinking.
In February it is Chinese month and we are looking forward to making things for Chinese New Year and more importantly food tasting!
You will have all met Yvette by now and she has made a real positive impact on pre-school over the last couple of weeks. As a result of which, she has now been appointed as Marvellous Monkeys’ Room Leader.
Please do not hesitate to speak to her to discuss any suggestions you may have for the room.
