Smile4Life Framework

Helping Reduce Child Tooth Decay in Lancashire

Smile4Life is a strategic framework to reduce dental caries (tooth decay) in children and laying solid foundations for good oral health throughout life.

Approximately, 50% of five-year-old children in Lancashire suffer with one or more decayed teeth.  With little improvement in this statistic since 1990, Lancashire County Council has teamed up with its NHS partners to provide the Smile4Life framework.

Little Rascals has been invited by an NHS consultant to take part. We understand the importance of educating our children on good oral care and over the next 6 months, we will be working towards completing the framework, so we are best placed to provide tips and advice to our parents to aid their child’s oral care.

Oral Care Champions

Over the next 6 months Andrea (0-1s), Ashleigh (1-2s), Kerryanne (2-3s) and Nicola B (pre-school) will be working towards becoming our Oral Care Champions.

Their role will be to promote healthy teeth and follow the guidelines set out by Smile4Life in each of our rooms.

This team will be headed up by Andrea and Kerryanne, who will receive training every 6 weeks from our NHS consultant.  We will be providing evidence and feedback in order to obtain the top accreditation.
